Make your own sunny trail.
Watch Episode 2, then try a little map adventure together. Paper and a pencil are all you need.
Tip: choose portrait orientation in your print settings. You can also draw the activity on your own paper.
1. Start, trail, treasure.
Draw a map of a room or an imaginary park. Mark your start with a circle and your lookout with a star. Add a path between them.
Add two landmarks: perhaps a chair and a window, or a bridge and a big tree. Trace the trail with your finger and name the landmarks in order.
2. Can your explorer find it?
A grown-up can place a paper star somewhere safe in the room. Use the map to guide a partner to it, then swap roles.
□ Find the start. □ Trace the trail.
□ Check the landmarks. □ Find the star!
Ask: “What helped you know which way to go?” Different maps and answers are welcome.
3. Notice something tiny.
On a walk with a grown-up, look for a leaf shape, something yellow and a tiny creature. Look gently; leave plants and animals where they live. An indoor picture search works too.
Talk together: “How did the friends help one another? What could we do if a trail were blocked?”
For family use with adult supervision. Choose a safe indoor route or an appropriate public path. Never follow a pretend map into unfamiliar or unsafe places.
