Choose a campsite or a cottage
New York State Parks lists camping and one- and two-bedroom cottages. Use the reservation map to compare loops and pick a site that fits your equipment. If you want a cottage, check the individual listing for occupancy, amenities, and what bedding or kitchen supplies you need to bring.
The park sits above the Sound. A booking at Wildwood gives you access to a wooded park and its shoreline, so use the map to understand the walk between your site and the beach. Ask the park about the approach if stairs, slopes, or carrying gear could make a difference.
Make the shoreline your Saturday outing
Carry one small beach bag instead of moving the whole camp down to the water. Bring a layer for the breeze and save room for a snack break. Check the posted swimming hours and restrictions before planning to get in the water.
For a simple family photo walk, pick three things to frame from the paths or the beach: the bluff, the waterline, and the view back toward the trees. Walk the park’s permitted shoreline routes and turn back when access is restricted.
What to check before reserving
The park prohibits pets year-round. Camping dates and swimming dates are separate, so confirm both before choosing a weekend. If an evening around a fire matters, check the park’s current above-ground container rules and whether the camp store is operating during your stay.
